Edy and Bridge is an independent clothing brand and studio in Nunhead, South London, creating small-batch, thoughtfully made garments. Designed and sewn in-store using reclaimed fabrics, we focus on timeless, easy-to-wear pieces while minimising waste through careful production and textile reuse practices.
George and Bee are part of the Edy and Bridge team, helping to make our clothing in-store. Alongside production, they run community darning workshops, sharing practical skills to help people mend and care for their treasured garments.
Their first workshop 1 march focuses on traditional darning — a technique used to repair holes in clothing and textiles by interweaving yarn to strengthen and rebuild worn areas. Participants can explore both visible and invisible mending, perfect for socks, jumpers, scarves, or any well-loved, holey items. This is a hand-sewing class, so no sewing machine experience is needed. You can work on your own garments or practise on knitted samplers provided.
Their second workshop 8 march introduces Swiss darning. This technique recreates the original knitted loop structure, resulting in a stretchy, seamless repair ideal for knitwear. An intermediate-level hand-sewing class, all materials are provided. To celebrate Repair Week, attendees also receive a free mini darning kit to continue mending at home.
The workshops take place in our shop Edy & Bridge, 40 Nunhead Green, London, SE15 3QF
