At our monthly Repair Cafés across Haringey, we give free advice/help in mending/fixing broken/faulty household items. We help local people to fix each other’s stuff by sharing expertise, and learning.
We are a charity intent on the protection and preservation of the environment by promoting an increased repair and reuse culture here in Haringey, North London. We have been holding regular Repair Cafés (education/fixing/skill swapping/upcycling events) in Haringey since April 2022. Our Volunteers offer local residents advice/help on how best to mend cherished broken/faulty household items. We enable local people to join the community repair movement by sharing their expertise and learning from one another. By collaborating over a ‘troubleshooting’ approach, we help fix around two thirds of what is brought in.
Our events are designed to attract people who want to help do something to react to the climate crisis by reducing waste, conserving resources and thus saving people money. Our collaborative approach means people don’t need to be experts, just have the confidence to help others.
We’re also keen to involve people who may have no technical skills, but are good at admin and/or organising. So if you are someone who can find our visitors on the job sheet, direct them to the correct repairer, weigh their item, time how long they stayed and generally be of help, you are very valuable to us – we need you!
