Hillingdon Council

Hillingdon Council is committed to offer its residents access to a green and sustainable waste management service. Our waste and recycling department is working to promote good recycling practices across the borough as well as initiating waste prevention projects and events. As such, we are organising regular and free Repair and Reuse Days where we invite residents to reuse the things they already have by offering free repairing workshops, as well as advice and information about sustainable living with the support of our partners.

Repair & Reuse Day

23rd March, 10:00 – 14:00

During our free Repair and Reuse Days, residents can:

• Learn how to mend their clothes with support from our partners from TRAID. Traid is a charity retailer offering an alternative to buying new clothes and their aim is to progress the concept of reuse so that it becomes the first choice for as many people as possible.

• Bring one small broken or slow electrical item and our partners from Friends of the Earth will try to fix it. Friends of the Earth is a grassroots network dedicated to protecting people and planet.

• Receive basic bicycle repairs from Dr Bike. Dr Bike is a council service and it provides free basic bike repairs throughout the year and across different Hillingdon based locations.

• Receive information and advice from Learn Hillingdon about sustainable living courses, a council service which offers adult education courses.

• Learn about keeping things they don’t need in circulation for longer by using the Freegle app. Freegle is a UK organisation that aims to increase reuse and reduce landfill by offering a free Internet-based service and app where people can give away and ask for things that would otherwise be thrown away.
