Hackney Council’s Zero Waste Hackney programme offers a variety of events aimed at assisting residents in minimising waste, curbing consumption, and saving money. The focus is on reducing, reusing, and repairing items rather than opting for new purchases.
As well as hosting a Zero Waste Hub for Repair Week which is highlighted in the question below, there are other ways we would like to get involved. Examples include:
16th March, 11:00 – 15:00
The Hackney Repair Café is a free community event where participants will learn how to mend their clothes. Please bring along one or two items of clothing that are in need of repair and we will teach you how to mend them. We will have examples of clothes that have been repaired, as well as materials to practice on.
16th March, 11:00 – 15:00
Lazy laptop? Vacant vacuum? Mixed-up mixer? You don’t want to dump it without at least trying to fix it, but you need some advice. Book a slot and bring your device along and our volunteers will help you pinpoint the problem, show you how to fix it, provide repair advice and give helpful tips to help you Restart your gadget.
The Zero Waste Hub also accepts laptop donations.
