Stitching With Sandra

Stitching with Sandra was established to teach and inspire creative clothes repairs. This not only helps our clothes last longer but reduces waste and unnecessary consumption. Stitching with Sandra also run crochet classes.

Learning how to repair our clothes and other textiles is a very useful life skill, helping us all to live more sustainably. Not just practical, this is a skill that we can use creatively so that our repairs become an expression of who we are and our clothes unique. Wearing clothes that have been repaired is something to be celebrated rather than hidden.

Creative Clothes Repair Workshop

17th March, 17:00 – 19:00

During this two-hour Creative Clothes Repair Workshop, several different hand sewing techniques for repairing worn or damaged clothes can be taught. These include darning, embroidery, patching and Sashiko. What is taught depends on the needs of the group, who are encouraged to bring along their own item for repair. Previous experience of hand sewing is not required.

Workshop numbers are limited to eight to ensure that all attendees can get the support they need. Smaller numbers also increase the chance of experiencing social benefits from stitching together.

You can also benefit from coming to the workshop if you want to decorate, rather than repair a garment. Denim and other heavy cotton fabrics are good for this. All the materials needed to carry out repairs during the workshop are provided, with sufficient thread to finish the job off at home, if you need this.

Please contact Sandra (stitchingwithsandra@gmail.com) if you want to discuss a specific repair prior to booking a course or if you would like to book Sandra for your own event.
