The Stitch Archive serves as a research and development facility for designers, students, and the textile curious. We hold workshops and research visits, teaching a variety of skills as well as giving insights into the luxury fashion industry in which we work.
At the heart of The Stitch Archive is a passion to promote textiles, to look to the future of textiles through sustainability, and to use textiles as vehicle to bring people together. We offer workshops exploring and developing sustainable practises from educational sessions on biomaterials and what sustainable fabrics are, to practical workshops on upcycling and reusing.
In our sustainable work we have developed a biomaterial called Bequin (TM), which is a compostable sequin, offering an alternative to the usual plastic sequins so commonly used.
As a Community Interest Company all revenue generated is put back into the archive, enabling us to grow the collection and affordable services we can provide to our visitors.
