Time & Talents is a lively community charity in Rotherhithe and Surrey Quays with a 138‑year history of bringing people of all ages together for mutual support, fun, learning and friendship. Everyone is welcome.
Time & Talents hosts the Rotherhithe Repair Café, a monthly community‑led event funding by British Land. This initiative brings local people together to repair household items such as small electrical appliances, clothing and bicycles for free, helping neighbours save money and reduce waste. Volunteers with a range of repair skills share their knowledge, teaching and supporting those who attend, fostering practical learning and stronger community connections.
The Repair Café takes place on the first Saturday of each month at The Old Mortuary, offering a welcoming, accessible space where people can work alongside skilled volunteers in a friendly environment with tea, coffee and conversation. Since its launch, the Café has become a monthly fixture that encourages social interaction across generations, promotes sustainability, and strengthens community ties.
This partnership not only enables the Repair Café to run regularly but also demonstrates shared values around community resilience, skills‑sharing, and inclusive participation. British Land’s support has helped fund core aspects of the programme and enabled volunteer involvement and practical delivery in a central local space.
By facilitating learning, empowering residents to fix and maintain possessions, and creating meaningful social connections, the Rotherhithe Repair Café exemplifies Time & Talents’ mission to build community, reduce isolation, and make everyday life more sustainable and enjoyable for everyone.
