Tooting Repair Club is a loose collective of local people brought drawn together by a common interest in fixing our broken everyday gadgets – ‘from hair dryer to air fryer’ – we gather regularly to fix the stuff no one fixes any more. We have over a decade of experience in being involved with Tooting Restart’s regular repair cafes.
Repair Clubs (RCs) are fun social communities where you can develop your fixing skills alongside other like minded people – you’re generally expected to have a reasonable level of self-sufficiency, but we all share skills. Most RCs run training and we are planning to run programmes and one-off workshops geared for beginners in the near future. So stay tuned.
Tooting RC is run by and for the members who all make a small financial contribution. There are no staff – everyone puts a small amount of time in to keep it running.
RCs have the tools and space, safety protocols and insurance that enables you to engage in a broad range of electromechanical and electronic repairs on domestic items, once you’ve done the safety induction you just need to turn up (put the kettle on) and get stuck in.
We always welcome new members – email us – or speak to one of the team at an open event to find out more: you’re absolutely not expected to be an electronics engineer to participate, but you do need to have a basic grounding (pun intended).
The Repair Club idea emerged at Queen’s Crescent Fixing Factory in 2022.
