Bring & Fix is for local people come together to share their skills and knowledge – to help each other and have fun while doing so. It is an event where individuals ‘fix’ small things for each other, seek and provide advice, and come up with solutions. Its aim is to build sustainable communities through recognisable events that can be repeated in one’s locality or community on a regular basis. We want to encourage anyone to get involved and bring what they know and can do for others, to repair and recycle instead of throwing away.

Celia Pym's 'Socks: The Art of Care and Repair' exhibition transforms NOW Gallery into a creative workshop space, with mending materials and socks to inspire the community to learn the art of darning. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own socks to the gallery to repair, and are welcome to drop in and try their hand at darning, mending and stitching. Celia Pym's interactive videos and step-by-step guidelines invite all to create a unique 'visible mend' to either take home or put on display in the gallery.
On Wednesday 5th, Thursday 6th and Saturday 8th March, a mending expert will be on hand at NOW Gallery to provide guidance in learning to mend and stitch your socks. To take part, book free exhibition tickets for 'Socks: The Art of Care and Repair' via nowgallery.co.uk. Spaces are subject to capacity.
We know it can be difficult to recycle many household items you no longer need. Pots and pans, electricals, and textiles often end up in the wrong recycling bins or the rubbish. To make it easier, we’re bringing a mobile recycling centre closer to residents of Westminster! Plus, as a part of Repair Week we have clothes mending, electronics repair and bike repair!
It's London Repair Week and to celebrate we are hosting relaxing morning dedicated to our favourite mending technique: Darning. If you want to try traditional darning, scotch, honeycomb or even Swiss darning we can show you the ropes. Or should we say yarns?
Feel free to bring along your items with holes, we can talk about the most suitable techniques to help you get mending. Or you are free to practise on our scrap fabrics to try out different techniques. You'll also leave with our handy darning guidebook so you can carry on at home. You can darn almost anything but knitted items like jumpers or socks work well. Or heavier weight woven items like jackets or jeans (thinner items like t-shirts or shirts can be much tricker as the fabrics are finer, other mending techniques might be more suitable).
We are a friendly and down-to-earth charity focused on making and mending, located at the St. Mark's Community Hub in the heart of Teddington, Middlesex. As a registered charity (no.118 7049), we are committed to serving our local community and making a positive impact on people's lives. Sheddington has well-equipped workshops for repairs and construction projects, a welcoming social space featuring a fitted kitchen, and a delightful community garden. We offer a place where people can connect, collaborate, engage in constructive activities, and have a great time together. If you have an item in need of repair simply bring it along to one of our sessions, or if you prefer you can contact us beforehand and we'll be happy to discuss. From furniture to electrical/electronic equipment and garden items, we possess the skills to mend them. We simply ask that you make a donation to help towards our running costs + the cost of any new parts.
Do you have Tech Devices that you no longer need and you are not sure what to do with them? Are you holding onto them because you are worried about your personal data on the device? Have they got something wrong with them and need repair? We have teamed up with Our Tech to help you repair or recycle those devices or safely wipe and accept them for donation to reuse if they are still viable. The devices will be assessed by a member of Our Tech staff and you will have the option of having the hard drive removed (if possible) and returned to you or having the device wiped. If the device is no longer useable, it will be taken to be properly recycled recovering valuable metals for reuse. At this first event we will accept Old Laptops and Old Tablets. If you need a device repaired and returned to you, it will be assessed and you will be advised regarding purchase of the parts required. Please come and talk to us about other larger items (monitors, tower computers, printers etc) you may have and we may be able to advise and help but don't bring larger items into the Hub this time as we may not be able to store them."

Why? Because the most sustainable decision is to look after and keep what you have. And how? Easy peasy! Here's a short film about one of the wash-in, after-care items for garments that is readily available, which all work in broadly similar and easy ways. Not only do these work on reproofing already waterproof garments but they also give some water resistance to “ordinary” outer and mid-layer items.
What? Come and join the wonderful folks at Storm Care for a session on ‘at home’ outwear care where they will be supplying a limited amount of wash-in products for Rangers. They will also have a footwear clean and proof clinic on site for the weekend - keeping your feet dry and warm is equally an important consideration and tired footwear can be brought back to life just like clothing. They will actively be helping you to do that at the event with everyone invited to come and get involved.
