How to recycle
Old pet blankets or beds made from fabric can be recycled with textiles at a recycling centre. Recycle these at your local textiles recycling bank, or if your borough offers a textiles recycling collecting from home, you can do that.
Plastic animal beds can be taken to a Household Waste and Recycling Centre and recycled with plastics – ask an operative at the centre to find out which container you should throw them into.
If your beds and blankets are in good condition, you could give them to friends and family who could use them, or share on platforms like Gively, Freegle, Gumtree.
What to do with organic pet bedding
Check with your local council before you throw your pet bedding away, as some will collect used hay, straw and sawdust if you throw it in with your garden waste. In other areas, you may need to take it to a Household Waste and Recycling Centre and recycle it with garden waste there.
