How to recycle
Most women have a few bras tucked away that they no longer want or need. From that impulse buy that turned out to be uncomfortable or impractical, to the gift that’s just all wrong, if you have some bras you want to get off your hands, here’s some things to consider:
If they're good as new or unworn
- Sell them and make some money. Ebay, Shpock, Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace are just a few sites you can use
- Sell them locally at bring and buy sales, jumble sales or car boot sales
If they're in good but worn condition
- Charities such as Against Breast Cancer and Oxfam collect bras and send them to developing countries where they are not readily available. Find out more on their websites.
- Donate them to your local charity shop – check before you donate as some charities will only accept underwear that has never been worn
- Charity recycling bags that come through your door often take bras – check the list of items normally shown on the bag to make sure
If they're done for
- Recycle them at a textiles bank or household waste recycling centre near you. Check our postcode locator below to find your closest one.
