Ceramics

Can they be recycled?

Ceramics can’t be recycled from home, but if they’re in good condition, you can donate them to charity or pass them on using platforms like Olio, Freecycle or Gumtree, to name just a few. If they’re beyond use, you may be able to recycle them at your local tip (household waste recycling centre), but give them a call before making the trip to make sure!

To find out where your nearest tip is use our recycling locator tool or head on over to our services at a glance area, find your borough and scroll down to the map at the bottom of the page.

If you’re not able to get there, you’ll need to throw your ceramics in your rubbish bin.

If you have ceramic fixtures, such as toilets, sinks and bathtubs that are cracked or badly chipped and cannot be re-purposed or sold, you may be able to drop these off at your local tip as well.
